How do you know what to do to improve your body or your golf?  You assess or evaluate it.
At Body Balance for Performance, we believe that complete evaluation is the key to planning the perfect training program for you.

Components of the Golf Performance Evaluation

History and Goals: To understand your current situation with your body as it relates to your golf game, we need to understand where you have been and what you have done as a golfer.  We also need to understand your medical history, injury history, and life situation.  Once we understand your history we  can begin the process of goal setting.  We help you with this process through a series of questions designed to get to the heart of the matter.

Understanding your physical goals and golf goals helps us plan your program.  The larger and more aggressive the goal, the more work and dedication is needed. The smaller goals take less time and effort. TOP

The next step is Functional Movement Testing. These functional movements tie directly to your swing.  Examples of these tests are toe touch, deep squat, or pelvic separation/rotation .  Each of these tests help us understand different details of your golf motion.  For example, we know if you cannot touch your toes, you are very likely to stand up and experience large posture changes in your golf swing…this could be the physical reason behind your consistency problem. Once we have completed functional movement testing, we move on to anatomical testing.TOP

In Anatomical Testing we want to know why the functional movement tests were a challenge.  We look for mobility and stability problems, range of motion limitations, imbalances in muscle and frame, and postural imbalances that are making the functional movement tests a challenge. If we are able to understand you anatomically we can help you improve function and golf.  By the way, as you improve anatomically and functionally your golf also improves and your body feels better.TOP

Once we understand you functionally and anatomically then move towards better understanding your golf motion.  We test you on the Dynamic Balance System. On this system we look at your balance at set up and how your weight shifts as your swing progresses.  There are known patterns of movement that are unique to the different swing models or styles.  If you are working with a teacher of the modern swing, we know what that weight shift should look like.  If you are a student of stack and tilt, we know what that should look like, etc.  There are also relationships between your functional and anatomical testing and the DBS tests results. Finally we test your body motion in golf with 3D motion analysis…the MRI of the golf swing motion.  This system, through the use of wireless sensors and a computer, tells us details about your golf swing motion that cannot be seen on video or by the naked eye.  We are able to measure changes in your spine and pelvic posture at all points in the swing.  We can look at the amount of rotation you make in different body areas.  We look at your sequence of motion (kinematic sequence), and other data.  From this data, we can tell you how the functional and anatomical findings are influencing your golf swing motion.  We can help you change this data by improving the functional test results.TOP

Once we have all the data collected, we design a custom program for you that corrects the functional and anatomical challenges so  you can feel better and play better golf.  This program could be the Master’s Program, the B3 Program, Small or Large Group Training, an online program, or an individualized program.  It depends on what you want out of your program.  We have the program solution for you.
