Tony Leodora speaks of your unique ideas about the movement of the lower body in the swing. However, I have been unable to track down that presentation by Ms. Rohrer (?sp). Can you enlighten me , please?
Thank you!!!

OK Al. I will thank Tony. I agree, that we have unique ideas about lower body movement. It all starts by understanding what the mobility (range of motion) and Stability( ability to control movement) in the lower spine, hips and lower extremities. Once we know that we can begin the process of freeing your lower body to move correctly (meaning in a way that your teacher is looking for). Amelia is brilliant on how she teaches lower body mechanics.
The Rorer Podcast is on our site. On our home page, fitgolf.com, there is a right vertical bar that has many links on it. About 2/3 of the way down there is a Heading that says “Body and Swing Golf Fitness Series” . There is an arrow just right and below that verbage which, when you click it, will drop down a menu. On that menu is an entry ” Lower Body Use in Golf” That will take you to Amelia’s videos.
Let me know if I can assist you an any way, maybe an assessment of how your lower body is working?

How to Generate More Power Hit Consistent Shots. It is imperative to create and maintain V Gap or lag during your down swing in order to hit consistent golf shot with penetrating ball flight. Once you understand the relation of V Gap or Lag in your swing with the rest of your swing and practice using your large muscles in your back, your club will automatically fall in the correct slot.
Most armatures try to create lag during their downswing only swinging with their arms, which leads to golfer coming out of the swing or over the top or casting of the club. The best practice drill I share with fellow golfers is to initiate your downswing with a slight lateral movement of your leading hips, which puts the club in correct slot, at point this keep bringing you arms straight down where you right forearm is in front of your right thigh, while retaining the lag or the power angle (This is where all your power is stored), and from here you simply rotate your torso to a full finish. HIT: Keep your head behind the ball and sense that, as your downswing continues you pull your left shoulder away from your chin.
In my research, if you practice with focus on maintaining the relation or connection of your arms with your chest/torso during your downswing, you will see that your ball compression and ball trajectory will improve dramatically. Imagine you are swinging a golf club standing in a phone booth, this thought will help you develop a compact, solid and a powerful swing.
Once you start to successfully combine the rotary action with a good arm swing, where you retain the power angle, then you will see immediate results in the amount of power you generate, but also the quality of golf shots you will hit.
